On 28 March 2010, Mazaya National United LLC, an event management company organized a musical tribute to Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor (a group from Chennai called “Satrangi” performed the songs) at hotel Al Falaj in Muscat. The programme was a resounding success and I would like to express my thanks to Mr Rama Krishna Rao for organizing such a wonderful night.
Colorful music of a black and white age….
Lilting voices suffused mellifluous haunting tunes,
Cherished melodies, memorable music from a bygone age,
A night such as it was, had come after many moons,
Which saw the revival of the wondrous 60’s, on stage.
Vibrant colorful music painted the hall in different shades,
Evoking in the nostalgic, reminiscences of sepia and monochrome
Sweet memories of summers past, that remain when all else fades
Carried by the cadence and harmony, came the lust for home.
Magical words skillfully weaved into love garlands for the throng,
Poignant, stirring lyrics, hallmarks of the poetic genius of yore,
Together with timeless music and honeyed tones burst forth as song
Time and time again to rapturous applause and cries of ‘encore’
The mesmerized audience sat transported by this heavenly treat
Their hearts beating in resonance, their minds relaxed and at rest,
Music, pulling at their heartstrings or making them tap their feet
Musical nights there have been many, but this was one of the best.
